Dr. Wah Wah Myint Zu –  Radiation Oncologist In Myanmar

Dr. Wah Wah Myint Zu is one of the top radiation oncologists at Yangon General Hospital in Myanmar. She has been at the forefront of creating and delivering a variety of radiation therapy programs in Myanmar’s Yangon General Hospital. Her efforts have been recognized by many in the country’s medical community.

From her early days, Dr. Zu’s passion for biology and physics intertwined with her fervor for healthcare, propelling her into a fulfilling journey in radiation oncology that began in 2008. This, coupled with a fascination for healthcare, made her embark on a rewarding career in Myanmar.
Dr. Zu holds many certifications from the leading medical associations in Myanmar. These include the International Association of the Society of Pain and the Institute of Medicine 1. These licenses underscore her profound expertise in the field.

Beyond mastering science, Dr. Zu focuses on addressing challenges in her field head-on. To this extent, she volunteers as a consultant at U Hla Tun Hospice Cancer Foundation, lending her keen eye for clinical supervision. To help people further, she also set up the NGO group Padummar Cancer and the COVID-19 support group. These catered to the affected people psychologically and spiritually.

Dr. Wah Wah Myint Zu is dedicated to developing palliative care in different ways. She regularly attends events and workshops that bring new evidence in cancer treatment in Myanmar. Her aim is to educate as many people as she can about cancer and palliative care. At the same time, she also focuses on research work to enhance the current state of radiation oncology in Myanmar.

In addition, Dr. Zu is the leader of the Working group for the development of the Cancer Pain Management Guideline. She also leads the project H.O.P.E. which aims to advance palliative care and cancer therapy in Myanmar. She has been honored with the International Development and Education Award in Palliative Care or IDEA-PC. It has further supported her professional journey and contributions to palliative care and radiation oncology.
