Dr. Rajendra Badwe is a surgical oncologist in Mumbai who strives to provide the best cancer treatment available to his patients. Now, he is the Director of Tata Memorial Hospital and has also worked in many institutions of repute such as Toranomon Hospital ( Tokyo, Japan ), Guy’s Hospital ( London, UK ), King’s College, London’s School of Medicine ( UK ) and Royal Marsden Hospital ( UK ).
Regarding his education, Dr. Rajendra graduated in 1978, and did his post-graduation in general medicine and MS from Bombay University. He has contributed immensely in areas such as breast cancer, circulating tumour cells, DNA in solid tumours, clinical research methodology and epidemiological research in oncology.
One of Dr. Rajendra’s most notable research is the timing of surgery on operable breast cancer during the menstrual cycle has positive effects on the treatment regime. Being credited to be a pioneer in breast cancer research, he also serves as a key advisor to the National Cancer Centre, AIIMS, Government of India, Breast Health Global Initiative and WHO. With his mammoth research and experience in the field, he is deemed to be among the best cancer doctor in India and due to this, he was awarded thePadma Shri award.
