Knee Ligament in Bangladesh
In the knee, there are four main ligaments. The following ligaments bind the thigh bone to the shin bone:
MCL (medial collateral ligament): The MCL is a ligament that runs around the inside of the knee. A hit to the outside side of the leg, such as when playing hockey or football, typically causes stretch and tear damage to these ligaments.
The lateral collateral ligament (LCL) provides support to the outer knee and is less often damaged than the MCL.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most commonly damaged ligament and is found in the front of the knee. During a sudden twisting motion, the ACL is often stretched or ripped (when the feet stay planted one way, but the knees turn the other way). ACL injuries are more common in sports like skiing, basketball, soccer, and football.
The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is a ligament that runs around the back of the knee. It’s also a normal ligament to tear in the knee. The PCL injury, on the other hand, is most often caused by a sudden, direct hit, such as in a car accident or during a football tackle.
