In 1981, he received his medical degree from Istanbul University’s Edirne Faculty of Medicine. He received his general surgery specialization from Istanbul University’s Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine’s Department of General Surgery in 1986 and began working as a general surgery specialist at the same institution the following year. In 1990, he was promoted to associate professor of general surgery, and in 1996, he was promoted to professor of general surgery. Since 2000, he has worked at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital and since 2010, at Maslak Acibadem Hospital. He is also the Head of the Department of General Surgery at Acibadem University. Breast surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and bariatric surgery are among his specialties. Dr. Cihan Uras served as president of the Association of Seniology from 2009 to 2011.

He was one of the pioneers in bringing laparoscopic surgery to Turkey. In the same years, he performed Turkey’s first simultaneous mastectomy and breast implant repair surgery. In Turkey, he performed the first sentinel lymph node biopsy in 1998, and for the first time in 2012, he used a single dose of intraoperative radiation after breast conserving surgery. It has over 200 domestic and international publications.
