Dr. Sandeep Attawar is one of India’s leading heart surgeons and is a recognized expert in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Over his career, he has participated in over 10000 open and closed heart surgeries, Lung and Heart Transplantation in adults, Left ventricular assist device implants for failing hearts and is capable of performing a variety of surgical procedures on patients of any age, from neonates to octogenarians.

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Attawar is also an active member in international cardiothoracic forums such as the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS), International society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) and the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association (MIRA),Society of Thoracic surgeons (STS ) and the European association of cardio-thoracic surgery ( EACTS ) He has had work published in leading journals such as the Annals of Thoracic Surgery (ATS), and regularly contributes to papers and presentations delivered across the world.He is a scientific advisor for Reliant Heart and is involved in advancing the field of mechanically assisted circulation or Long term Ventricular assist devices (LVAD).He is also on the editorial  board of the Journal of Thoracic disease . Dr Attawar is part of the  International faculty on the I2C2 committee that spearheads policies and outcomes of Mechanically assisted circulatory therapies, a sub committee of the ISHLT.
