What are some reasons for a hymenoplasty procedure?
Hymenoplasty is a cosmetic procedure used to restore or reconstruct a woman’s hymen. They may seek this treatment for several reasons, including physical or psychological ones.
Reclaiming control: When a woman is sexually abused, they leave her with traumatic psychological problems. She may believe they have deprived her of not only her innocence but also the chance to give the virginal gift of an intact hymen to the person of her choosing. Hymenoplasty can provide her with not only the physical restoration she needs but also some psychological relief and healing.
Buying the past: Sexual curiosity and experimentation are a normal part of growing up, particularly during puberty when hormones are fluctuating. Peer pressure may lead a young girl to take part in sexual activity before she is psychologically ready for the emotional effect of such physical intimacy. As she grows older, she may regret having indulged in that interest too early or too often, and she may attempt to bury signs of what she may later interpret as promiscuity or poor judgment.
Cultural beliefs: since the existence of an intact hymen is still relevant in many cultures, a woman will want to give this sign of purity to her husband for her nuptials to come.
As a surprise, for a special occasion, or on their wedding night, many women who have already been sexually active might wish to give their partner a virginal experience.
An accidental breach or tearing: For some women, hymen penetration from bicycle or horseback rides, slipping on ice, or tampon insertion is simply not appropriate, and they seek hymenoplasty to fix the harm.
Enhancing sexual pleasure: vaginal muscles can weaken after childbirth. Flaccidity is also present over time with age. Hymenoplasty often improves these muscles, providing the bonus of a more sensually satisfying sexual experience.
Imperforate hymen: this is a condition in which the entire vaginal opening is sealed by the hymen. It is not normally discovered until a young girl reaches puberty and they block her menstrual flow. The hymenoplasty procedure to correct this is called hymenotomy, and they create a small hole in the membrane to allow blood to flow.
Septate hymen: we divide the tissue of the hymen into stripes that look like ropes. They look like tonsils connected at both ends and could hinder the use of a tampon or penile penetration. Hymenotomy also corrects this. A hymen seventh, like the romantic lore mentioned above, can also refer to a very thick or rigid hymen and may require surgical penetration.
Micro-perforated hymen: similar to an imperforate hymen and similarly corrected. A small opening in a Micro-perforated hymen suffices to enable the menstrual flow. Usually, a problem or enlargement is unnecessary except if a woman wants to use tampons.
