BT Shunt Cost in Bangladesh
Blalock Taussig shunt is used to treat cyanotic heart defects that are duct-dependent, such as pulmonary atresia, by increasing pulmonary blood flow. The blue baby syndrome is caused by a variety of factors. Blood flow is guided to the lungs using this technique. When the baby is awaiting corrective or palliative surgery, it often relieves cyanosis.
A Blalock-Taussig (BT) shunt is a small tube, only a few millimetres in diameter, that is used to direct blood from the arterial circulation to the lungs. It’s used to treat congenital heart defects that impair pulmonary blood flow. When a child is very young, the shunt is used before a second operation can be done. The shunt is not a long-term solution since it does not develop with the infant. The shunt will eventually “outgrow” a growing infant, who will need more blood flow to the lungs to satisfy the body’s oxygen requirements.
