Cervical Laminectomy Cost in Bangladesh
The lamina — the back part of a vertebra that protects your spinal canal — is removed during laminectomy surgery to create room. Laminectomy, also called decompression surgery, enlarges the spinal canal to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.
Under general anaesthesia, a cervical laminectomy is performed.
To gain access to the back of the cervical spine, the surgeon makes an incision down the middle of the back of the neck. The lamina is then removed by the surgeon. The strain on the spinal cord is relieved by removing the lamina. The lamina does not need to be replaced by a plate or bone graft because the spinal canal’s “roof” is left open.
