Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in Bangladesh
ERCP is a procedure that helps the doctor to see the pancreatic and bile ducts, which are thin tubes within the body. These tubes are located close to your stomach. They transport digestive juices to the intestines from the liver and pancreas.
A flexible lighted tube called a “endoscope” is used by your doctor during ERCP. The endoscope (also known as a scope) is around the same thickness as your index finger. It enters your stomach and the first part of your small intestine, known as the “duodenum,” through your mouth. The doctor then inserts a very thin, flexible plastic tube into the scope and injects a dye that is visible on X-rays. Your doctor will be able to see the ducts and assess how well they are functioning during this operation.
