Hydrocephalus Cost in Bangladesh
Excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up inside the fluid-containing cavities or ventricles of the brain, causing hydrocephalus.
When CSF builds up around the brain, it can put undue pressure on the brain’s tissues that are encased in the skull. CSF builds up due to an increase in the fluid’s production, a decrease in its rate of absorption, or a condition that prevents it from flowing normally through the ventricular system.
The surgical insertion of a drainage system, known as a shunt, is the most common treatment for hydrocephalus. It’s made up of a long, flexible tube with a valve that holds brain fluid flowing in the right direction and at the right pressure.
