Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy in Bangladesh
These procedures are used to treat kidney stones in patients that have large or irregularly formed stones, diseases, stones that have not been broken up enough by SWL (extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy), or those who are not candidates for ureteroscopy, another common stone treatment. This procedure is required for stones larger than 2 cm (the size of a marble).
The doctor will make a small incision to reach the kidney stone, produce fragments of the stone, and surgically remove these fragments from the patient in Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL).
