Ventricular Septal Defect – VSD Closure Surgery in Bangladesh
When the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart does not close at the time of birth, Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) occurs. This causes a hole in the heart, which causes blood flow between the heart and the lungs to be disrupted. It causes a drop in oxygen levels in the body, which can be fatal in extreme situations if not treated promptly. VSD is a common heart defect that affects 30-60% of all newborns.
The heart and lungs will not function harder if the opening is small. It’s possible that surgery and other treatments aren’t needed. Small VSDs sometimes close by themselves. There is no drug or other medication that can cause the VSD to shrink or close more quickly than it does naturally.
