IVF Treatment in Turkey

Becoming parents and completing their family is every couple’s dream. But unfortunately, some of them have to face infertility. Infertility is significantly affecting the new generation. But lucking science has introduced procedures like IVF (in-vitro fertilization) that allow couples to have their baby.

IVF in Turkey is a fertilization procedure in which eggs are combined with sperm outside of the body in a lab. The eggs are monitored several days after fertilization, and then the fertilized egg is placed in the uterus.

Reasons to Opt for IVF

IVF can be considered if you or your partner has:

  • Low sperm count
  • Ovulation problem
  • Problems with the uterus or fallopian tubes
  • Endometriosis
  • Poor egg quality
  • Risk of passing inherited genetic disorder to your child
  • Poor egg quality
  • Unexplained fertility issues

Always remember, IVF is never the first step for infertility treatment, expects a complete tubal blockage case. IVF is generally recommended for those cases in which surgery, fertility drugs, and artificial insemination haven’t worked.

Different Steps of IVF Treatment in Turkey

IVF procedure is broken down into several steps:

  • Birth Control Pills: Your healthcare provider may prescribe birth control pills before starting your IVF treatment in Turkey. These birth control pills are used to control the menstrual cycle timing and stop the development of ovarian cysts. It also helps the specialists to maximize the number of mature eggs number during the egg retrieval process. A combination of birth control pills estrogen and progesterone are prescribed to some people, while some are given only estrogen.
  • Stimulation of Ovary: During the IVF cycle, hormone medications are injected to encourage the entire group of eggs to become mature, which means the person has many eggs instead of just having one egg. Ultrasounds and blood hormone levels monitor the medication response of the ovary. The healthcare provider uses ultrasound to the size and number of growing ovarian follicles. A trigger shot is given to finalize the egg’s maturation in preparation for egg retrieval. The trigger shot is administered exactly 36 hours before the individual’s scheduled egg retrieval time.
  • Egg Retrieval: A needle is inserted into each of the ovaries through the vagina and pulls the eggs out of each follicle. The eggs are placed in a special dish containing a special solution, and then the dish is put in an incubator. Egg retrieval is done 36 hours after the last trigger shot.
  • Fertilization: After the egg retrieval process, the embryologist will try to fertilize all the mature eggs using intracytoplasmic sperm injection. The sperm will be injected into each mature egg.
  • Development of the Embryo: The embryo development will be monitored over the next five to six days. After that, the embryo becomes suitable for transfer to the uterus.
  • Embryo Transfer: Generally, there are two types of embryo transfer: fresh embryo transfer and frozen embryo transfer. A fresh embryo is inserted into the uterus between three and seven days after the egg retrieval process. A frozen embryo transfer can occur years after egg retrieval. The embryo transfer procedure typically takes less than 10 minutes and doesn’t require anesthesia.
  • Pregnancy: When the embryo implants itself into the lining of the uterus, pregnancy occurs. With the help of a blood test, it is determined that if the woman is pregnant nine to fourteen days after embryo transfer.

Tests Before IVF Treatment in Turkey

  • Ovarian Reserve Testing: This is a simple hormone blood test that can give an idea of how many eggs are there in a woman’s body. Three specific hormones are tested FSH, AMH, and Estradiol. High levels of FSH mean a reducing ovarian reserve, and AMH gives the idea of the number of eggs remaining.
  • Semen Evaluation: A sample of sperm is sent to a laboratory for testing in which shape and motility are tested.
  • Tubal Patency Test: HyCoSy is a specialized ultrasound used to evaluate the condition and gives a clear view of fallopian tubes. This test is used to find out whether a woman’s fallopian tubes are suitable for IVF or not.
  • Prolactin Test: Prolactin is a hormone vital for the production of breast milk. If the woman has too much prolactin in the body, it can prevent conception. This result will evaluate what drug regiment might be best suited for each woman.
  • Infectious disease screening: The doctors also screen the patient for HIV, hepatitis B, Rubella, Chlamydia, and Varicella. Screenings of these diseases are necessary because they can cause risks to a growing fetus.

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Headaches

  • Bruising from injections
  • Ovaries enlargement
