Aneurysm Coiling Surgery in Turkey
Coil embolization is a minimally invasive way of treating an aneurysm by filling it with fluid that seals off the sac and reduces the chance of bleeding. This is done from the artery “in” (endovascular) by a steerable catheter inserted into the groin blood stream and directed to the brain. The use of tiny tubes, glue or wire stents facilitates coagulation and removes the aneurysm. The purpose of endovascular coiling is to separate an aneurysm from normal circulation without blocking any minor arteries in the vicinity or restricting the main artery.
The long-term effectiveness of endovascular coiling for the treatment of aneurysms is between 90 and 95%. For aneurysms treated with a stent of flux diversion, complete aneurysm closure occurs between 6 weeks to 6 months after the procedure. Over several weeks you’ll need to be on two antiplatelet (blood thinner) drugs to keep clots from sticking to the stent.
