Aneurysm Microsurgical Clipping Surgery in Turkey
Microsurgical clipping is a technique which cuts off a brain aneurysm’s blood supply to prevent it from breaking or to stop bleeding if a rupture has already occurred. A craniotomy is done to establish an opening in the skull that can enter the brain aneurysm. The clip is positioned on the aneurysm ‘s neck (opening) to block blood flow, and stays inside the brain.
The cerebrovascular surgeon opens a small section in the skull to allow access to the aneurysm through microsurgery. Afterwards, a titanium clip is placed on the outside of the aneurysm to prevent flowing blood from reaching it and the bone portion is removed. To avoid potential bleeding or break the clip must stay in the patient’s body.
Following the procedure, observation time in hospital lasts two to three days. After two weeks at home, light tasks can be resumed, and the patient will typically return to work within three to four weeks.
Microsurgical clipping is an established procedure with a low rate of complications.
