Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin – Liver Transplant Surgeon
Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin is India’s top liver transplant surgeon and one of the best in the world. He is a leading expert in hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgery at Medanta-The Medicity, India. He has 35 years of experience as a liver transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon.
With about 25–30 transplants that are successful each month, Dr. Soin and his team are famous for having a 95% success rate. More than 2500 liver transplants, the highest number in the country, have been performed under his vast experience. More than 12000 difficult liver, gall bladder, and bile duct surgeries have also been completed by Dr. Soin during the course of his 21-year career. He is also recognized for having established liver transplantation in India as a pioneer. In addition, Dr. Soin is in charge of the Mumbai-based Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital’s liver transplant program.
Dr. A.S. Soin pursued studies in surgery and medicine in the UK and India. He earned his MBBS and MS degrees at AIIMS in New Delhi over the course of 11 years. After that, he continued his education to obtain expertise in gastroenterology and liver surgery, all the while working on his research thesis on portal hypertensive gastropathy. Additionally, he received his FRCS (Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons) degrees from Glasgow and Edinburgh in the UK.
He established a large liver transplant center at Sir Gangaram Hospital between 2001 and 2010. In June 2010, he and his entire team relocated to Medanta-The Medicity in Gurgaon (Delhi-NCR), where he set up a 150-bed (including 36 Liver ICU beds) dedicated Liver Treatment facility. He performs 250 liver transplants annually in addition to hundreds of complicated liver and biliary tract surgeries. In addition to caring for patients from India, he also treats patients from south Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
