Liver Transplant

A healthy liver is substituted for a diseased liver during a liver transplant. The surgery is typically required when the liver functions have sustained damage that cannot be repaired. A portion of a living donor’s liver is taken during a living donor transplant operation and subsequently implanted in the recipient.

Liver Surgery

The most frequent liver surgery, known as resection, involves removing a portion of the liver. Liver surgery includes surgeries of the liver for a variety of illnesses. The surgery takes 3–4 hours to execute, and full recovery takes 5–6 weeks.

Biliary Surgery

The common bile duct, which joins the liver to the digestive system, will be operated on in this procedure. Bile is transported by the bile duct, where it breaks up dietary lipids so that the body may absorb them. You might need biliary surgery if a gallstone or a tumor, for example, is blocking the liver’s normal flow of bile.

Interventional Radiology Procedures

For the treatment of liver tumors, interventional radiology is used. It refers to the use of radiological imaging guidance, such as an X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, or MRI, to precisely target treatment. A needle is first inserted into the target area during an interventional radiology procedure. It is also known as pinhole surgery.
