Dr. Shripad Banavali’s name is a noteworthy one. In his early years at Tata Memorial Hospital, he had the privilege to train in oncology under the top oncologist in India, Dr. Suresh Advani. Later on, he did his fellowship with Dr. Harvey Priesler in Cincinnati, USA.
He spent 3 years researching and studying leukaemia and other aspects of it. After that, Dr. Shripad worked at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is the best Paediatric Oncology facility in the world.
Here, he did his Board Certification in Paediatrics and Fellowship in Paediatric Haematology. Currently, he is working at Tata Memorial Hospital as the Head of Department – Medical Oncology. His areas of interest include Leukaemia Cell Biology, Immunology, Cell Kinetics and Experimental Oncology.
Dr. Banavali’s extensive research on an alternative treatment called Metronomic Therapy, has brought him immense fame and goodwill. This treatment limits the expenditure of financially challenged Triple Negative Breast Cancer patients to just Rs. 120 to Rs. 2700 a month. Besides his surgical prowess, he has more than 200 scientific publications in various medical journals to his name.
