Dr. N K Venkataramana is an internationally acclaimed neurosurgeon, researcher and academician. After training in micro neurology at Nordtstud Krankenhause in Hannover, Germany, he served as assistant professor in neurosurgery at the Bangalore-based National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). Later he founded the Manipal Institute for Neurological Disorders (MIND) at Manipal Hospital in Bangalore and turned it into a leading facility. Alongside he pioneered 1062, the country’s first GPS-enabled mobile ambulance service & he is the Vice-Chairman of BGS Global Hospitals.
In 2016, Dr Venkataramana founded his own centre of excellence for comprehensive neurocare — the Bangalore Regenerative Advanced Institute of Neurosciences (BRAINS). Cytecare in association with BRAINS is further strengthening its organ site focus by setting up Cytecare Brains Neuro
Oncology Centre.
Dr. Venkataramana has published more than a 100 papers in reputed journals, performed more than 25000 surgeries, participated and presided over many prestigious neurological conferences, and delivered lectures and orations at national and international forums. He has held positions as president of Indian Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery, Neuro endoscopic society of India, Indian society for Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery, and Editor-in-chief for Journal of Cerebrovascular sciences. Presently he is Editor-in-chief of ‘Brain Voice’.
Dr. Venkataramana has received a number of prestigious awards including Karnataka Rajyotsava award in 2008 and C.V. Raman Birth Centenary Award for 2015-16 from Sri Narendra Modi (Hon’ble Prime minister of India).

A recipient of a number of prestigious awards and citations, Dr Venkataramana currently presides over the Indian Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery and is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cereberovascular Sciences. Previously he has been the President of the Indian Society for Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery and President, Neuroendoscopic Society-India.
In late 2016, Dr Venkataramana founded his own boutique centre of excellence for comprehensive neuro care — the Bangalore Regenerative Advanced Institute of Neurosciences (Brains).
