He obtained his MBBS degree from Medical College Calcutta in 1988 under University of Calcutta with several prizes and gold medals. He did his MS (Master of Surgery) in General Surgery from Medical College, Calcutta under University of Calcutta. He stood first in the University and was awarded Anungomohan Sen Memorial medal. He passed MCh (Neurosurgery) from PGIMER, Chandigarh.

• He did fellowship in Skull Base and Cerebrovascular surgery in USA, Skull base fellowship in Canada. He had training in Endoscopic Neurosurgery in Germany. He was trained in Revascularization of Brain in USA and Austria. He has completed Masters’ course in AO Spine.

• He has 23 years of experience in the field of Neurosurgery. He has one of the highest numbers of

successful “Awake Brain Surgeries” for brain tumors in India. The areas of his expertise are Skull base surgery including skull base tumors and pituitary tumors, Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, Cerebral Aneurysms and Arteriovenous Malformations, Revascularization of Brain, Complex Spine surgeries, Pediatric Neurosurgeries.  In India, in last 6 years his unique neurosurgical operations have been covered 9 times in electronic and print media.

• He has published many papers in International journals of Neurosurgery e.g. Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Surgical neurology, etc. He has written many chapters in International text books and reference books in Neurosurgery.
