Dr. Rakshay Shetty

Dr. Rakshay Shetty is the lead Pediatric Intensivist in 24-bed tertiary care PICU at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Bangalore and shares responsibility for patient treatment and training with the Pediatric Intensive Treatment and Emergency Medicine team. He completed his Pediatrics training at PGIMER, Chandigarh. After completing his residency, he worked at the same institute as a senior resident in Pediatric Intensive Care before moving to the prestigious Sick Children’s Hospital, Toronto to complete his Intensive Care Fellowship program. After completing a one-year training program, he was awarded a fellowshipin care ultrasound from American ultrasound leadership academy.

He is working as a consultant Pediatric Intensivist since 2010 for Rainbow Children’s Hospitals.

As a founding member of Indian Pediatric Simulation Society, PediSTARS, he has been instrumental in spreading simulation-based training across the country through conferences and workshops. Though invited lectures at international conferences, he has represented India globally in the field of simulation based education. He was an invited guest professor at Philadelphia Children’s Hospital. He has also contributed to the book chapters related to the field of Critical Pediatric Care Medicine, and has to his credit several international research publications. He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Critical Pediatric Treatment.

As a member of the chapter of IAP, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine and IAP Intensive Care, he has given numerous lectures and conducted workshops nationwide. He has also volunteered for Mending Kids International (MKI) and International Child Heart Foundation (ICHF) camps as a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist for their missions in Africa.

He has a particular interest in the area of point-of – care imaging, cardiopulmonary experiences and neurointensive treatment in addition to his passion for simulation.
