Dr. Murat Emiroglu
Dr. Murat Emiroglu was born in Ankara on June 15, 1961, he is a professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Ankara Vefik Pasa Elementary School, Ankara Anatolian High School, and Ankara Anatolian Middle School are where he completed his primary schooling in 1972 and middle and high school in 1979. His enrollment in Hacettepe University’s Faculty of Medicine took place in the same year as his graduation from high school. His medical training included a portion of the General Surgery Internship Program at the Surgery Department of the University of Ferrara in Italy, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ippolito Donnini, a world-renowned surgeon. It was 1985 when he graduated. According to “Compulsory Service Act”, he was assigned to the Agri State Hospital for a duration of one year.
The Ankara University Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery selected him as a Staff Research Associate in 1986. As a result, he spent the summer of 1992 in Japan, participating in research on congenital anomalies, craniofacial surgery (especially cleft lip and palate), and microsurgery (especially microvascular free tissue transfers) at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Showa University School of Medicine, Tokyo, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Takuya Onizuka and Prof. Dr. Motohiro Nozaki, respectively, at Tokyo Women’s Medical Center. In May 1993, he became a member of the “International Onizuka Society” before returning to his native Turkey.
Using Streptokinase to Prevent Thrombosis in Microvascular Anastomoses was his thesis, and he passed the specialist examination in June 1993. It wasn’t until January 1997 that Dr. Emirolu was promoted to Assistant Professor from “Specialist” status. In November 1998, he was named University Associate Professor, and in November 1999, he was named Staff Associate Professor. It’s been said that he was “Deputy Chief Physician” from 2002 to 2006. “Breast Reconstruction Unit” was established in Ankara University’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in November 2003, and he was named its director. 2004 marked the year when Dr. Emiroglu was promoted to the rank of “Professor”.
