After graduating from Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 1983 he joined Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine to complete his specialization in Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. 

Dr. Nazim also started practicing Microsurgery in 1990 at Istanbul University. He was now known as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist. From 1990 to 1991 he started teaching in UAB (The University of Alabama at Birmingham – USA) at the Department of Plastic Surgery as research and clinical fellow. Till 2002, Dr. Nazim Cerkes served at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine as Associate Professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. From 2002 he started his private practice at Cosmed Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center. 

Dr. Cerkes has been asked to offer talks and live surgery demonstrations at a number of prominent international conventions, particularly on rhinoplasty. Many plastic surgeons from around the world come to his clinic every year to observe his rhinoplasty techniques.
