Dr. Ramakant Deshpande

Dr. Ramakant Deshpande is yet another brilliant doctor in our list of best oncologists in India, to have been honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri by the Government of India. His fortes include management of Thoracic Tumours ( Lung and Oesophagus ), Breast Cancer and Children’s Care.

Currently working at Asian Cancer Institute, Dr. Ramakant’s experience includes working at hospitals like Kidwai Cancer Centre and Tata memorial Hospital where he served as the Chief of Thoracic Services(1985 – 2002).

He was the first to introduce Thoracoscopic surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital. Apart from being a surgical genius, he also has written more than 50 publications in National and International Journals.

Dr. Deshpande’s medical journey began from Karnataka Medical College, where he graduated. Later on, he pursued his post-graduation from Tata Memorial Hospital followed by training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, Diploma in Health Administration and various fellowships which are mentioned below.
