Smart Lipo is a type of lipo that uses laser energy to liquefy the fat before your surgeon suctions it out. It’s most often used to contour areas like your upper arms, thighs, stomach, love handles, and butt.
Minimally invasive and less aggressive than traditional liposuction, Smart Lipo has multiple wavelengths that let your doctor choose the right intensity for you. It also stimulates collagen, which helps tighten your skin and improve its elasticity.
Smartlipo is the most widely used and extensively studied, used and validated laser-assisted liposuction or lipolysis system available today. It was the first laser introduced for this purpose. With a decade of studies, Smartlipo has been shown to involve less pain, less bruising and swelling, and provide a faster recovery time than traditional liposuction.
Is Smart Lipo right for me?
Smart Lipo treatment might be a good choice for you if:
- You’re not looking for a weight-loss treatment.
Smart Lipo is best for people within 20% of their ideal body weight who have stubborn fat deposits. - You want more definition.
Smart Lipo can help reveal your muscles by removing overlying fat and make you look more fit. - You have reasonably good skin tone.
You’ll need enough elasticity in your skin so that it doesn’t hang once the fat’s gone. Your doctor can help assess whether this could be an issue and recommend solutions.
Procedure:
When larger areas or multiple areas are treated, the patient most likely needs IV or general anesthesia, for both patient comfort and safety.”If you do have local anesthesia, your surgeon may give you medication to relax you, and you’ll probably feel some mild pressure on the area as your surgeon gets to work.
They’ll insert a thin tube containing a laser fiber through a small incision in the targeted fatty area. The Smart Lipo laser melts the fat cells, which get suctioned out with a small cannula.
The surrounding tissue coagulates, which helps tighten and smooth the area.
The whole treatment usually takes one to two hours, depending on the number and size of the areas being treated.
On average, the procedure will take 1.5-2 hours. This is dependent on the number of areas to be treated and the size of the areas.
Recovery:
Smartlipo is a minimally invasive procedure which usually requires only local anesthesia. Some light bruising can occur, but you’ll be able to return to normal activities within a day or two.
Results Lasts:
Smartlipo permanently destroys fat cells in the treated area. However, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen to enjoy long-lasting results.
