Double Switch Surgery in Turkey
The double switch procedure is a surgical technique used to repair congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (L-TGA), which is a cardiovascular anomaly with atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial discordance.
For L-TGA patients aged from few months to years, the double transfer procedure is normally performed. The goal is to mitigate or prevent dysfunction of the right ventricular or tricuspid valve which complicates the anomaly. Patients can need morphologic left ventricle preparation using pulmonary artery banding before correction.
The technique is composed of any of the following operating combinations:
- Atrial inversion surgery (Senning or Mustard Repair) and arterial switch Jatene
- Atrial inversion surgery (Senning or Mustard repair) and Rastelli-type surgery (Ilbawi or Senelli procedure)
