What should you know before Spinal Column Reconstruction Surgery in India?
Prior to surgery, surgical tests (such as a blood test, an electrocardiogram, and a chest X-ray) are performed.
The medical history of the patient is taken (allergies, medications/vitamins, bleeding history, anesthesia reactions, and previous surgeries).
One week prior to surgery, the patient is advised to stop taking all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (Naprosyn, Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, Aleve, etc.) and blood thinners (Coumadin, aspirin, etc.).
Smoking, chewing tobacco, and drinking alcohol should be avoided for one week before and two weeks after surgery, as these can create bleeding complications.
