Vagal Nerve Stimulator Surgery in India
The use of a stimulator to provide electrical pulses to the vagus nerve in the neck is used in vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy for epilepsy. In certain patients, the goal of VNS therapy is to prevent or halt seizures, as well as to lower the intensity and frequency of seizures. It is also used to treat depression.
A pacemaker-like device is surgically inserted beneath the skin of the chest, and a wire is run beneath the skin and coiled around the vagus nerve in the neck in this therapy.
This gadget (pulse generator) delivers the treatment by stimulating the vagus nerve with regular, mild electrical pulses in an attempt to manage the erratic electrical brain activity that causes seizures.
