Adenoidectomy in Turkey
Adenoid removal is surgery to take out the adenoid glands. The adenoid glands sit behind your nose above the roof of your mouth in the nasopharynx. Air passes over these glands when you take a breath.
An adenoidectomy is performed under general anaesthesia so during the operation you will not experience any discomfort. The surgeon would first find the adenoids and then extract them either by scraping them away using a special instrument called a curette, or by using a diathermy instrument to apply heat. A diathermy instrument produces electrical currents of high frequency which burn the adenoids. When the surgery is finished the gauze to stop the bleeding is applied. The wound surface is left to heal after the bleeding ceases, and recovers within a few days.
