Mitral Valve (MV) Repair in Turkey
Mitral valve repair and mitral valve replacement are procedures that may be performed to treat diseases of the mitral valve — the valve located between the left heart chambers.
There are several forms of mitral valve disease. In regurgitation of the mitral valve the mitral valve flaps (leaflets) do not close tightly, causing blood to leak back into the left atrium. This is commonly caused by bulging-back valve leaflets — a condition called prolapse of the mitral valve.
If possible, doctor may recommend repairing the mitral valve, as it preserves your mitral valve and can preserve heart function. Repairing the mitral valve can also help you prevent complications that may occur with replacement of the mitral valve, such as the risk of mechanical valve blood clots and the risk of failure of biological tissue valves over time.
After mitral valve repair or mitral valve replacement surgery, you may be able to return to daily activities, such as working, driving and exercise. Your doctor will discuss with you when you can return to activities. You’ll generally still need to take certain medications.
