Valve Repair Surgery in Turkey
Heart valve surgery is a procedure to treat heart valve disease. Heart valve disease involves at least one of the four heart valves not working properly. Heart valves keep blood flowing in the correct direction through your heart.
The four valves are the mitral valve, the tricuspid valve, the aortic valve and the pulmonary valve. — valve has flaps — called the mitral and tricuspid valve leaflets, and the aortic and pulmonary valve cusps. During every heartbeat, those flaps open and close once. Valves that don’t properly open or close up disrupt blood flow to your body through your heart.
Your surgeon repairs or replaces the affected cardiac valves during heart valve surgery. Some surgical techniques may be used to fix or remove heart valves, including open-heart surgery or cardiac surgery which is minimally invasive.
After the surgery, a member of the surgical team will take you to a recovery room and later the intensive care unit (ICU) to be closely monitored for several days. Open-heart valve repair or replacement surgery generally requires an in-hospital stay of several days or longer. Once your doctor has removed the breathing and stomach tubes and you are stable, you may start to drink liquids. You can start eating more solid foods as soon as you can tolerate them.
