Cervical Cancer Surgery:
Surgery involves removing the tumor and some healthy tissue surrounding it during an operation. A gynecologic oncologist is a doctor who specializes in the use of surgery to treat gynecological cancer. Those techniques are also used for cervical cancer that has not spread beyond the cervix:
Radical trachelectomy is a surgical procedure in which the cervix is removed, but the uterus is left intact. It includes pelvic lymph node dissection. This surgery may be used for young patients who want to preserve their fertility
Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and cervix. Hysterectomy can be either simple or radical. A simple hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and cervix. A radical hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus, cervix, upper vagina, and the tissue around the cervix.
Conization is the use of the same procedure as a cone biopsy to remove all of the abnormal tissue. It can be used to remove cervical cancer that can only be seen with a microscope, called microinvasive cancer

The most popular form of radiation treatment is called external-beam radiation therapy, which is radiation delivered outside the body from a tube. Using electrodes, radiation treatment is called internal radiation therapy, or brachytherapy. A radiation therapy regimen, or schedule, typically consists of a fixed number of treatments offered within a given time span incorporating external and internal radiation treatments. This mixed strategy is most successful in raising the risk of the cancer returning, called a recurrence.

Systemic therapy is the use of drugs to kill cancer cells. Another form of drug is delivered through the bloodstream to enter cancer cells all over the body. Systemic treatments for cervical cancer are performed by a gynecological oncologist or medical oncologist, physicians who are specialized in clinical treatment of cancer.
