Deceased Donor Kidney Transplant
A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure to place a healthy kidney from a living or deceased donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly.
Deceased donor organs typically come from people who have chosen to donate their organs by signing organ donation cards prior to death. A deceased donor kidney transplant occurs when a kidney is removed from a deceased donor and transplanted surgically into a recipient’s body whose natural kidneys are diseased or unable to function properly.
