Pyeloplasty Surgery
Pyeloplasty is the surgical reconstruction of the renal pelvis (a part of the kidney) to drain and decompress the kidney. In nearly all cases, the goal of the surgery is to relieve a uretero-pelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction.
This procedure is used to correct ureter blockage or narrowing in which it exits the kidney. Such abnormality is considered an obstruction of the ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) that results in low and slow urine discharge from the kidney. Obstruction with UPJ can potentially lead to abdominal and flank pain, bruises, inflammation, high blood pressure and kidney degradation.
