Aortic Valve Repair Surgery
The aortic valve is on the heart’s left side, which acts as an outflow valve. Its role is to let blood escape the left ventricle, which is the main pumping chamber of the heart. It also has a task of closing so that blood does not spill back into the left ventricle. If you have a congenital defect or disorder that causes stenosis or regurgitation you may need surgery on your aortic valve.
A Bicuspid Valve is the most common type of congenital anomaly. The aortic valve usually has three pieces of tissue, called leaflets. This is also a Valve tricuspid. There are just two leaflets in a faulty valve and it is called a bicuspid valve. A new research showed that surgery to remove the aortic valve has a 5-year survival rate of 94 per cent.
