PDA Device Closure Surgery in Turkey
Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart condition that affects blood flow in your child’s heart. Because the blood flow isn’t efficient, your child’s heart and lungs have to work harder.
During the procedure , the doctor inserts a catheter at the top of your child’s leg into a blood vessel in the groin. The blood vessel is pushed up the catheter towards the heart and into the PDA. This then takes an X-ray view of the PDA. A fastener is threaded through the catheter and put in the PDA. Once the device is in place, the doctor will take the catheter out and cover the cut with a bandage on your child’s leg.
The cardiologist will let you know when your child can go home. Your child will stay in the hospital for at least four to six hours after the procedure. Most children can go home on the same day as the procedure.
