Holmium Ureteroscopy Surgery
Ureteroscopy involves the use of tiny scopes (diameter size of spaghetti) that move through the urethra and up the urinary collection chain to detect stones of the kidneys. Then, an even smaller laser fiber is passed through the ureteroscope working channel to break up the block. Holmium laser (Ho: YAG) is the most common and the most effective stone disintegration laser.
The operation requires a general anesthesia and with subsequent post-operative recovery takes approximately 1.5 hours. Usually, during the operation, a ureteral stent is inserted to avoid postoperative flank pain which would imitate pain in the kidney stone.
You will go home the same day after 4-7 days for stent removal, and return to the clinic.
