Single Chamber Pacemaker Surgery
A pacemaker is a small device in your chest which is mounted under the skin to help monitor your heartbeat. When you have an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), particularly a slow one, it is used to make the heart beat more regularly. It takes a surgical procedure to insert a pacemaker into your abdomen.
Single-chamber pacemaker
This type of pacemaker has one lead that connects the pulse generator to one chamber of your heart.
We use the single-chamber pacemaker to monitor heart beat timing for most people by attaching the lead to your right ventricle (lower heart chamber). We attach the lead to your right atrium (upper heart chamber) to stimulate the pacing inside that chamber, depending on your symptoms and the type of pacing you need.
