Urethroplasty Surgery
Urethroplasty is an open surgical reconstruction or replacement of the urethra that has been narrowed by scar tissue and spongiofibrosis (urethral stricture). Urethroplasty is the gold standard for urethal reconstruction with the best and most durable results.
There are several ways to repair urinary canal blockages. Most scar tissue can be spread open as a method of treatment but with this operation, the scar can return easily. A camera and small scope can be used to guide a tiny knife to open the scar and usually leave a drainage tube in the penis.
This is useful in most cases for small scars, or new ones. The longest serviceable procedure is urethroplasty. In this procedure, a cut in the skin either eliminates or enlarges the area of scar tissue. During surgery, a small drainage tube (catheter) is left in place so that the treated area will recover
