REV Cardiac Surgery
The REV method is for the diagnosis of large artery transposition with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and pulmonary stenosis and malpositions similar to large artery transposition (TGA). It aims to overcome the drawbacks and weaknesses of the conventional Rastelli procedure, such as subaortic stenosis, late ventricular failure, arrhythmias and sudden death.
The resection of the infundibular septum, in particular, allows a straighter, smaller ventricular patch to be positioned, bulging far less into the right ventricular cavity. The comprehensive mobilization of the main pulmonary branches allows the right ventricular incision to be directly connected, thereby eliminating the need for an extracardiac conduit.
